Kiwi Information Report
We have been learning how to write an information report. Here is mine.
Kiwi
A kiwi is a small bird that is only found in NZ. There are five species of kiwi and they are all native to NZ.
Appearance
The female kiwi is slightly bigger than the male kiwi. The kiwi has wings that are 5 cm long but they do not help them fly at all. The kiwi has brown, soft feathers. The kiwi is the size of a chicken. The kiwi has a long beak to eat the insects out of the ground. The kiwi is one of the only birds that have two nostrils at the end of their beak.
Diet
Kiwi usually eat worms, insects, spiders, berries and seeds.
Habitat
Kiwi are nocturnal animals that live on the forest floor in small burrows that are hollow.
Threats
Kiwi are killed by dogs, stoats, cats, rats and weasels. Dogs and cats think the kiwis are toys so they play
Reproduction
Kiwi only lay one egg per year. The kiwi has one of the biggest eggs in the world compared to their body size. The kiwi egg takes 80 days to hatch.
There used to be 5 million kiwi in New Zealand and now we have dropped down to about 60,000 kiwi.
How the kiwi saved the forest
We read the big book How Kiwi saved the Forest . Here is my kiwi before and after he lost his wings.

My Speech
My speech topic is sport. I chose this topic because it is different to everybody else. I used expression. I could work on eye contact.
Here is my speech.
Speech Topic: Sports
Why is sport important? Sport can be fun, it keeps you fit and you let out all of your energy. Imagine what life would be like without sport? Everyone would be lazy and wouldn't have activities to do in their free time. I believe that sport is important because it keeps you fit. Sport is fun because you get muddy. Sport is a time when you can let out all of your energy.
Firstly sport keeps you fit and healthy. You get fit with sport because you run, kick and pass balls. You go to practises. Practises can encourage you to never stop trying. Practises help you get ready for big games. Sport practises and games get your heart rate going and pumping which keeps you fit and healthy.
Secondly sport can be fun because you can meet new people and you get to hangout with your friends. Sport such as hunting is fun because you get to shoot cool guns like shotguns and 22s. Sport liking BMX and motocross is fun because you can do jumps and wheelies on your BMX or motorbike.
Finally sport helps you to not be lazy. Sport helps you to not be lazy because you getout of your house and do incredible things like play games and do backflips. Sport stops you from being lazy.
I strongly believe that sport is incredible because it keeps you fit and healthy, it is fun and it stops you from being lazy.
